What is included ?
This product includes One tablet of EllaOne emergency contraceptive pill with a separate STI Test for Chlamydia and/or genital Gonorrhoea
How does the STI Test work ?
This is a test to confirm if you have Chlamydia and/or genital Gonorrhoea. We will send you a vaginal swab test kit with your order. You need to wait 14 days until you take your STI test as it can take up to two weeks before the infection is detected. Once you have taken your sample, you send it to our UKAS-accredited partner lab in the discreet, unbranded, and pre-paid mailing bag provided. You should receive your test result within 24 hours from the lab receiving your sample.
What is EllaOne ?
EllaOne is currently the most effective emergency contraceptive product on the market with a 95% success rate even if it is taken up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex.
EllaOne contains the active ingredient Ulipristal Acetate which prevents or delays ovulation by acting on the receptors for progesterone (the female sex hormone) and preventing the egg from becoming fertilised and hence protecting from pregnancy.
It will not prevent pregnancy if you have had unprotected sex after you have taken it or if you take it after you have ovulated.
Although 95% effective, EllaOne will not completely guarantee you from pregnancy and therefore should not be used as a substitute for regular contraception. If you are engaging in unprotected sex on a regular basis, then you can look at our Contraceptive Pill treatment.
ellaOne will not protect you from sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
How do I take EllaOne ?
One tablet should be taken within 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected sex/failure of a contraceptive method.
