What is Zomig?

Zomig Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient zolmitriptan and belongs to a group of medicines called triptans. Zomig Nasal Spray is used for the migraine headaches attacks. Zomig Nasal Spray works only when a migraine attack has started. It will not stop you from getting an attack.

Rizatriptan is not licenced for use in anyone over the age of 65. The medicine is available on prescription from our online pharmacy

What is the cause of a migraine?

Although we do not know what causes migraines and cluster headaches, it may be due to the temporary widening of blood vessels in your brain. Sumatriptan works by narrowing these blood vessels.

You may experience the following with your migraine:

• Pre-warning symptoms – start hours or one to two days beforehand and can include tiredness, yawning, mood changes and stiff neck
• With or without aura – sensitivity to light, sounds and smells, flashing lights, numbness or tingling, dizziness, difficulty speaking
• With or without moderate to severe headache – lasting 4–72 hours, unilateral, throbbing
• Nausea and/or vomiting

Some causes include:

• Menstruation
• Dehydration
• Stress and tiredness
• Skipping meals
• Caffeine

How do I take Zomig Nasal Spray?

Zomig Nasal Spray comes in a ready-to-use spray unit. Each unit contains 5 mg of zolmitriptan. Each unit is for single use and gives only one dose. The recommended dose is one spray in one nostril. It does not matter which nostril you use. You can use another spray if the migraine is still present after two hours or if it returns within 24 hours.

You should not take more than TWO sprays a day and you should always take Zomig Nasal Spray as directed by a prescriber or Doctor.

What are the main side effects of Zomig Nasal Spray?

Common side effects include dry mouth, stomach pain, feeling or being sick, feeling sleepy, or feeling dizzy.
