Analyse the bacteria in your vagina to assess the health of your vaginal flora with our vaginal microbiome test
Your vagina naturally contains billions of bacteria (microbiome) that protect against infections and maintain pH balance. When this balance is disrupted (dysbiosis), you may experience symptoms like unusual discharge, itching, odor, or recurrent infections. The test identifies imbalances and helps determine the cause of symptoms—whether it’s bacterial vaginosis, yeast overgrowth, or healthy flora.
How do we test your microbiome?
We use a technique called shotgun sequencing. Shotgun sequencing uses advanced DNA analysis to comprehensively map all bacteria present in your vagina. Unlike traditional culture-based methods that only identify bacteria that can be grown in a lab, shotgun sequencing analyses the entire genetic makeup of your vaginal flora. This technique randomly fragments all DNA in your vaginal sample, then sequences each fragment to identify every microorganism present—including beneficial bacteria, potential pathogens, and unculturable species.
The results provide a complete picture of your vaginal microbiome: which bacteria are present, their relative abundance, and whether your flora is balanced (eubiosis) or imbalanced (dysbiosis). This identifies conditions like bacterial vaginosis (characterized by reduced lactobacillus and overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria), yeast overgrowth, or other dysbiosis patterns causing symptoms like unusual discharge, itching, odor, or recurrent infections.
Shotgun sequencing is more accurate than older methods because it detects all bacteria present—even those that are difficult to culture in laboratories. This allows for precise diagnosis and targeted treatment.
Our home testing kits use this advanced technique while maintaining simplicity: you collect a sample at home, mail it to our laboratory, and receive detailed results identifying your specific microbiome profile with clear treatment recommendations based on your results.
Understanding your vaginal microbiome provides insight into your sexual and reproductive health. Our home testing kits make assessment simple, private, and non-invasive. Results come with clear guidance on next steps and treatment recommendations if needed.
