Wegovy® is a weight loss medicine that contains the active substance semaglutide. It works by acting on receptors in the brain that control your appetite, causing you to feel fuller and less hungry. This may help you eat less food and reduce your body weight.
It is typically used as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
How effective is Wegovy®?
In a medical study of 1,961 adults living with obesity or excess weight with a medical problem, whilst taking Wegovy®, the average person lost 15% of their body weight (working out at an average of 35 pounds or 16kg), with most losing weight as early as 4 weeks. The study also found those taking Wegovy® not only lost weight but managed to keep it off.

Wegovy® comes as 5 doses ranging from 0.25mg (Starting dose) up until 2.4mg (the maintenance dose).
Wegovy® is taken once a week and will be supplied as a single pre-filled pen at the appropriate dose. Each pen lasts for up to 4 weeks and comes included with needles.

The best places for injection are areas with the most fat, such as your tummy (but not within 5cm of your belly button), the front of your thighs or your upper arms. It’s important to change injection sites regularly. Do not inject into a blood vessel.
Wegovy should be taken at the same time each week.
How do I store Wegovy?
Before use, Wegovy needs to be stored in a fridge between 2°C to 8°C. When you order Wegovy with eShop Pharmacy, we will deliver your medication in temperature controlled packaging to make sure it arrives within this temperature range.
When you have started using the pen, this can be kept at a temperature below 30°C or in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) for a maximum of 6 weeks. You should make sure you keep the cap on the pen in order to protect it from sunlight. You should not use the pen after its expiry date and do not use the pen if you notice that the solution is not clear and colourless.
Gastrointestinal side effects are the most common side effects with Wegovy. This can include constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence and nausea (sickness). You should seek immediate attention if you experience any of the following side effects: severe and ongoing stomach pain or nausea and vomiting as it as it may be a sign of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
